Paw Patrol: Bruno’s Rescue and a Second Chance at Life
In late 2024, the Leo Club of Kolonnawa launched a project of compassion — Paw Patrol — a youth-led animal rescue initiative devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming street animals across Sri Lanka. Built on the simple but powerful belief that every life deserves a second chance, Paw Patrol quickly became a beacon of hope for animals often left unseen.
After successfully rehabilitating Shoffy, their first rescue who made a full recovery from severe skin infections, the team was called to a new case. Along Meegoda Road in Dompe, they found Bruno — a frail, wounded street dog fighting a losing battle against malnutrition, pain, and a severe cyst infection.
Bruno’s Story: From Pain to Recovery
Bruno’s condition was heartbreaking.
Thin, weak, and unable to move or eat properly, he was at the edge of survival.
But Paw Patrol’s volunteers, with the support of Sameera Pet Service, acted swiftly.
This street dog rescue in Sri Lanka was not just about pulling a dog off the road — it was about committing to the long and patient process of healing.
Bruno was given critical medical treatment. He was fed, protected, and shown something he hadn’t seen for a long time: kindness.
Through the weeks that followed, his recovery became a symbol for everything animal rescue projects in Sri Lanka aspire to achieve.
Healing, Hope, and a New Home
Bit by bit, Bruno began to heal.
He regained strength, wagged his tail for the first time, and learned once again to trust the hands that reached out to help him.
This was dog rehabilitation in Sri Lanka at its purest — not just fixing wounds, but mending a broken spirit.
Thanks to the compassion behind Paw Patrol street animal rescue, Bruno didn’t just survive — he began to thrive.
Today, he’s healthy, energetic, and living in a loving home that sees him for the bright, strong soul he has always been.
The Power of a Community Effort
None of this could have happened without collective effort.
The Leo Club service projects like Paw Patrol depend on the generosity of people who believe in youth animal rescue initiatives.
A fundraiser was launched to support Bruno’s boarding, ongoing treatments, and rehabilitation costs, aiming to raise Rs. 60,000 — every rupee going towards giving Bruno the second chance he deserved.
Reflecting on the journey, Sanidi Rovinya, Chairperson of Paw Patrol, shared:
“Bruno’s recovery was not just a victory for us, but a symbol of hope. Every life we touch is a reminder that compassion still exists — and that with the right support, we can do so much more.”
Stories like Bruno’s remind us why second chance animal stories are worth fighting for.
Paw Patrol: More Than Rescues, It’s a Movement
Paw Patrol is not just an initiative. It’s a promise — that no life will be left to suffer unseen.
Through kindness to animals in Sri Lanka, through small but powerful acts of rescue, feeding, treatment, and rehoming, Leo Clubs like Kolonnawa prove that youth-led movements can change lives.
With Bruno’s success and Shoffy’s before him, Paw Patrol looks ahead with even greater determination.
More rescues.
More hope.
More moments where kindness wins.
One dog at a time.
One second chance at a time.
