C1 FM – One Final Project, One Powerful Voice

On May 4th, 2025, something remarkable happened.
Leo District 306 C1 didn’t close its year with a formal farewell or a long ceremony.
Instead, we signed off in a way that felt truer to who we are — bold, creative, and unapologetically alive.
We launched our very first radio broadcast: C1 FM.

Broadcasting across 107.3 FM and 107.5 FM, C1 FM turned an ordinary Sunday into an extraordinary milestone.
It wasn’t just a radio station — it was a celebration.
A living, breathing tribute to the spirit of Leoism, the power of youth leadership, and the unstoppable creativity that carried our district through two decades of service.

A Homegrown Dream Realized

Hosted live from Candy Factory Colombo — the vibrant studio complex owned by our very own Past Club President, Lion Barana Ranasen — C1 FM was a project built from scratch by young hands and hopeful hearts.

From sunrise to sunset, the air was filled with laughter, conversations, music, games, and stories.
Every segment, every transition, every spontaneous joke reflected the soul of the Leo Club service projects we are proud to call our legacy.

Professionals, Leos, Lions, and young leaders from all walks of life stepped up to the mic — sharing wisdom, trading jokes, playing their favorite songs, and reminding everyone listening what youth leadership in Sri Lanka looks like when it’s given the space to breathe and create.

The Power Behind the Scenes

What the world heard on the radio was only half the magic.
Behind every laugh and every song, a dedicated team of Leos worked tirelessly — scripting shows, queuing tracks, managing technical setups, and keeping the energy alive all day long.

It was a powerful reminder that youth powered radio events aren’t just possible — they’re brilliant when the right people believe in them.
C1 FM wasn’t outsourced, handed over, or professionally produced by outsiders.
It was us — the youth of Leo District 306 C1 — trusting each other, leaning on each other, and making it happen.

There was a pride in every small detail:

  • The careful mixing of each playlist
  • The thoughtful interviews
  • The energy in every ad-libbed conversation

Because C1 FM was never meant to be polished or perfect.
It was meant to be ours.
And it was.

More Than a Broadcast — A Statement

C1 FM wasn’t just about filling a radio schedule.
It was a statement.
A statement that said: we are here, we have grown, and we are leaving behind a voice that won’t be forgotten.

As our district prepares for its historic transition, with Leo District 306 C1 evolving into the new districts of D6 and D9, this final project stood as a beacon.
A last burst of creative fire before turning the page.

It captured everything that makes Leoism creativity so unique:

  • The courage to try something new
  • The joy of shared work
  • The determination to end not quietly, but proudly

C1 FM carried the echoes of every meeting, every event, every fundraiser, and every sleepless planning session that came before it.

It spoke for all of us.

A Legacy on Air

Today, as we look back at C1 FM, it’s impossible not to feel proud.
Proud that we didn’t just serve — we created.
Proud that we didn’t just close the year — we celebrated every voice that built it.

Because a district isn’t made only by its leaders.
It’s made by its dreamers.
By its doers.
By those willing to tune in, turn up, and broadcast their hearts to the world.

C1 FM may have aired for only one day, but its impact — like all good radio — will echo much longer.
Through the memories made.
Through the friendships deepened.
Through the reminder that when young people are trusted, they build miracles.

Our first broadcast.
Our final project.
And a voice that will always, always be ours.

Thank you, Leo District 306 C1, for making history one last time.
