Leo Youth Camp 2025: Action Brigade 6.0
Leo District 306 C1 took us on an unforgettable adventure with the Leo Youth Camp 2025, known as Action Brigade 6.0. Held at the Trincomalee Maritime Academy, this leadership camp was a perfect blend of learning, fun, and bonding. From the moment we boarded the buses in the early hours of 11th January 2025, to our return in the early hours of the 14th, every moment was filled with excitement and purpose.
Setting Out on the Journey
The journey began with two buses departing Diyatha Uyana in Battaramulla at 3:45 AM. Along the route to Trincomalee, Leos were picked up, including us at IDH Junction in Kolonnawa at 4:15 AM. The journey included a breakfast stop in Kurunegala around 10 AM, where we refueled for the exciting days ahead.
We arrived at the Trincomalee Maritime Academy around 1 PM, greeted by a surprising chill in the air—unexpected for a place known for its heat. Despite the cold, we registered, headed for lunch, and settled into our rooms to prepare for the activities to come.
Kicking Off with Teamwork
The camp kicked off with an orientation session where we learned about the importance of teamwork, leadership, and the historical significance of the Trincomalee Maritime Academy. We were divided into nine teams of ten members each, mixing Leos from different clubs to encourage collaboration and unity under the banner of Leo District 306 C1.
The first activity, building a straw tower, challenged us to create the tallest and strongest structure using just 25 straws. It was a test of creativity, coordination, and communication, setting the tone for the camp. After this, we were tasked with creating a flag for each team. Before bedtime, we scavenged for items within the camp, finding materials like old clothes, leaves, and gunny bags to craft our unique team banners. This activity sparked creativity and teamwork while preparing us for the bigger challenges ahead.
Camp Policies and Lights Out
At 9 PM, the camp organizers collected our phones, adhering to the camp’s policy to minimize distractions and foster deeper connections. After dinner, we sang, danced, and bonded with our fellow Leos, enjoying the camaraderie. By 10:30 PM, it was lights out—another rule that ensured we were rested for the packed days ahead.
A Day of Challenges and Discovery
The second day began with a PT session at 6:30 AM, featuring yoga and stretches. Following this, we continued working on our flags, using the materials we had gathered to design symbols of our team spirit and identity. The Treasure Hunt, the day’s main event, began shortly after breakfast and took place in a small forest-like area within the camp.
This exhilarating challenge was more than just a game—it was a test of teamwork, problem-solving, coordination, and leadership. Each task required us to draw on our individual strengths while working cohesively as a team. From navigating through tricky paths to solving intricate puzzles, every step brought us closer to earning pieces of a map that led to the treasure.
The most memorable moment came when we finally planted our team flag at the marked location, completing the hunt. The sense of accomplishment and the bonds forged during this challenge were unparalleled. It wasn’t just about winning or finishing the task; it was about the lessons we learned along the way—the importance of clear communication, trust, and the power of collective effort. This event captured the true spirit of the Leo Youth Camp 2025, leaving us with experiences and insights that will stay with us for years.
A highlight of the day was a refreshing sea bath, where we enjoyed the waves in a safe, designated area. This break was both relaxing and exhilarating, a perfect way to recharge.
The evening brought the much-anticipated campfire. Around the flames, we played games, performed skits, and sang songs. The campfire fostered bonds that strengthened our unity as Leos of Leo District 306 C1.
Strengthening Bonds on the Final Day
The final day mirrored the previous morning, with a PT session at 6:30 AM, followed by breakfast. The second round of activities demanded intense team coordination, pushing us to work together in ways that strengthened our connections.
At 2 PM, we gathered for the camp’s concluding event. A video montage captured the best moments of Action Brigade 6.0, leaving us nostalgic and proud of our experiences. The Best Male Camper award was presented to Leo Dulanja Gunasekara, and Best Female Camper went to Leo Kaveesha Dahanayake. Team Agni was crowned the Best Team, a testament to their outstanding teamwork and spirit.

Reflecting on an Incredible Experience
The Leo Youth Camp 2025 wasn’t just a leadership camp; it was an opportunity to bond, learn, and grow as a community. Despite the limited use of phones, Leos embraced the camp’s policies, showing respect for the organizers and dedication to the experience.
As we departed the Trincomalee Maritime Academy at 5 PM, the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie was palpable. A final stop in Kurunegala for dinner allowed us to reminisce before returning to Diyatha Uyana around 1 AM.
