Ashra’24- 26th Annual Installation Ceremony
The Annual Installation Ceremony is a cornerstone event for every Leo Club, marking a pivotal moment of leadership transition, renewed energy, and future aspirations. On September 15, 2024, we, the Leo Club of Kolonnawa, celebrated Ashra’24, our 26th Annual Installation Ceremony, at the Lions Activity Center in Colombo 07. This evening was a vibrant reflection of our unity, creativity, and dedication to Leoism.
The ceremony honored the achievements of the past year while setting the stage for new goals and challenges. Our outgoing Club President, Leo Induwari Peirisyalage, delivered an emotional address, reflecting on the successes of her term and recognizing the exceptional contributions of her team and members. Her leadership and vision guided us through a remarkable year, and her gratitude reminded us of the power of teamwork.
The reins were then passed to our new Club President, Leo Nandeesha Geeganage, who shared an inspiring vision for the future. Her speech outlined ambitious plans for the coming year, focusing on building on our legacy and striving for greater impact in service, leadership, and fellowship. Her enthusiasm and determination left us all motivated for the journey ahead.
We were privileged to have Lion Saman Jinadasa MJF MAF, District Governor of Lions District 306 C1, as our Chief Guest. His presence elevated the event, and his words of encouragement emphasized the importance of collaboration and the transformative power of service. Leo Nisal Dulmith FLM, District President of Leo District 306 C1, graced us as the Guest of Honor, delivering an empowering message that inspired us to embrace our responsibilities with passion and purpose.
Special Guests, including PMDP PDP Lion Dilruk Tissera, District Leo Club Chairperson, and Leo Anjana Udesh FLM, District Vice President, brought additional prestige to the occasion. Their speeches reflected the strength of the Leo and Lions network and reinforced our commitment to making a difference.
The event theme, Blue, White, Sky, and Clouds, symbolized hope, clarity, and ambition. From the elegant decorations to the thoughtfully coordinated outfits of attendees, the theme infused the evening with a sense of purpose and aspiration.
Adding a nostalgic touch, Lion Leslie Leelanada, our long-time Leo Advisor and a foundational member of the Lions Club of Kolonnawa, took us on a heartfelt journey through the history of our club. His words highlighted our growth and reinforced the deep roots of Leoism within our community.
The evening wasn’t just about speeches and formalities. It was a celebration of talent and creativity, with Kolonnawa Leos showcasing their skills in event planning, designing, and performances, making the ceremony truly unforgettable.
