Work Safety and First-Aid Awareness Workshop
On July 19, 2024, we at the Leo Club of Kolonnawa conducted a Work Safety and First-Aid Awareness Workshop, benefiting 175 students from NVTA Narahenpita. This initiative was designed to close a critical gap in safety education, empowering future industrial workers with essential skills to create safer workplaces and confidently handle emergencies.
The workshop covered workplace safety protocols, accident prevention strategies, and first-aid practices. These sessions were particularly impactful for the participants, many of whom come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds with limited access to such training. By imparting this vital knowledge, we aimed to improve both individual safety and foster a culture of awareness that will benefit entire industries.
The long-term benefits of this workshop are significant. With the skills they’ve learned, these 175 students are now better equipped to prevent workplace accidents and respond effectively during emergencies, potentially saving lives. As Kolonnawa Leos, we’re proud to see this knowledge extend beyond the classroom, creating a ripple effect of safety awareness that will positively impact the workforce and the wider community.
This initiative also aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3), Quality Education (Goal 4), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8). By focusing on these goals, we continue to work towards a healthier, more educated, and sustainable future.
Kolonnawa Leos remain committed to empowering our community and creating opportunities for meaningful change. This workshop reflects our dedication to equipping the next generation of workers with the tools they need for a brighter and safer tomorrow.
