REEFLEX 2.0 at Panadura Beach
On June 22nd, 2024, the Leo Club of Kolonnawa brought life to REEFLEX 2.0, an environmental initiative aimed at restoring the beauty and ecological health of Panadura Beach. Partnering with MAS Unichela Panadura, the project benefited over 10,000 residents, local businesses, and visitors, enhancing both the community and its coastline.
Through beach cleanups and awareness programs, volunteers tackled pollution and emphasized the importance of sustainable practices. Led by Leo Nandeesha Geeganage, and supported by the Lions Club of Api Panadura and local authorities, the project not only cleaned the beach but also strengthened the community’s connection to its environment.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—Life Below Water (Goal 14), Sustainable Cities (Goal 11), and Responsible Consumption (Goal 12)—this initiative laid the groundwork for a greener future. A detailed waste audit and visual documentation provided insights to guide further environmental action.
The impact of REEFLEX 2.0 goes beyond cleaning a beach—it’s a testament to what’s possible when communities come together to protect and preserve their environment for generations to come.
